Questions
What people usually ask, before they book.
If your question isn't here, it's quicker to ask us directly than to guess - see Getting in touch below.
Getting here
How do I get to Neelambari from Kochi airport or Thrissur town?
Cochin International Airport is 42 km away, usually an hour's drive. Pre-paid taxis are available at the airport, or we can arrange a car for you - recommended if you're arriving at night, since airport drivers aren't always familiar with our village.
Thrissur Railway Station, the nearest major rail head, is about 13 km away. Same choice there: a taxi from the station, or a car arranged through us ahead of time.
Is EV charging available on site?
Not within the property, but two charging stations are within a 2 km radius.
Is parking available for self-driven guests?
Yes, ample parking inside our gated compound, with no parking fee.
Rooms & stay
What room types do you have?
Deluxe and Superior rooms, a family suite of two Superior rooms either side of a shared living room, and two tree houses by the Karuvannur river. All are air-conditioned. More on each in Stay.
What are check-in and check-out times?
Check-in is from 2pm, check-out by 11:30am. We stay flexible on both when the rooms allow it.
Is Wi-Fi available?
Yes, free Wi-Fi throughout the rooms and immediate room areas. The compound is large with a lot of open ground, so coverage can thin out in the gardens further from the buildings.
Do you accept walk-ins, or is booking always required?
A prior reservation is always recommended, and we seldom take walk-ins - none at all after 5pm. Call ahead and we can usually confirm a short-notice booking if there's availability.
Food & drink
What kind of food do you serve?
Kerala cuisine, mostly vegetarian, with fish and meat when you'd like. We're also happy to make North Indian dishes - pulao, chapati, paneer and the like.
Can you accommodate dietary needs - vegan, gluten, no onion or garlic?
Diets are not a special request here: sattvic, vegan, no onion or garlic, a gluten problem - all of it is ordinary.
Is alcohol available?
Neelambari doesn't hold a licence to sell alcohol. Guests are welcome to bring their own and enjoy it in their room. It isn't permitted in the common areas, lawns or dining area.
Guests & pets
Is Neelambari pet-friendly?
Pets are welcome in our Deluxe rooms - let us know ahead of your stay so the room is ready for them.
Is the property suitable for children?
Children are welcome. There's a lot of open ground to roam, plus a small play area.
Can you host large groups or a full-property buyout?
For overnight guests: nine rooms, plus a villa within walking distance available by prior arrangement, host around 30-40 people comfortably.
For a wedding or event using our outdoor venues rather than overnight rooms, capacity is much larger - up to 500-600 guests. Full-property buyouts are available for both. See Weddings for the event side, or Retreats for a group staying together.
Experiences & wellness
Can I book an Ayurveda treatment or yoga session without a full retreat?
Yes - the spa and yoga hall aren't reserved only for retreat groups; sessions are arranged around your stay.
Do you arrange village walks, canoe rides, or cultural performances?
Yes, most need only a day's notice - performances and the painting session need a little more. See Experiences for the full list.
Practical
What payment methods do you accept?
UPI, card, cash, and bank transfer.
Is the property accessible for guests with mobility needs?
Yes - one room has ramp access, most of the property is wheelchair-reachable, and we keep a wheelchair on site. Let us know in advance so we can plan properly and look after you well.
What's your cancellation policy?
More than 30 days before arrival, 10% of the booking. Between 30 and 15 days, 50%. Under 15 days, the full amount. Full detail, including weddings and events, is on Policies.
